When I was about 12 years old my dad gave me some spare 1/4" reels so that I could play in his recording studio. Ever since, I have been a studio engineer. Most recently I am running a recording studio out of Pioneer Theatre Company on The University of Utah Campus. I record anything from small ensembles for use at Pioneer Theatre Company, to local rock bands, voice-overs, and personal projects. I thought I'd have a page dedicated to examples of things I have recorded over the past few years. |

The following are fairly random, yet typical non-theatrical recording projects over the last few years.
My little sister, Eliza Wren Payne, lives in London, and has for the past few years. Whenever she visits, we sit down a record a few tracks. These tracks also feature my brother, Sam, and my Dad, Marvin. I love my sister's sweet voice. Wedding Prayer lyrics and this recording © 2007 by Marvin Payne and Eliza Wren Payne. I have a deal with my brothers and some local band in the area. They donate and hour and a half of their time for me to use as guinea pigs so that my sound design class can see the practical application of mic placement and recording techniques, and I give them an hour and a half of free studio time. This track is what my brother, Dave, came up with in his free studio time. It's rough, but pretty fun.
