Most recently, all of my original music is for live theatre. Listen to the demos here, but be sure to check out the theatre portfolio, where you can see photos of the shows that these tunes belong to, and many more productions as well. I usually start with Acid Loops, then add my own instruments. Sometimes performed with real instruments, but mostly synthesized or sampled.
The Theatre Arts Conservatory SLAM, January 2008. I compiled some music that I had composed for various productions and events, and a couple of songs written for fun (see below for full versions), and used them in this wonderfully fun and exciting 24 hour theatrical event.

Here are a few tracks that didn't quite fit anywhere else. More recent stuff doesn't have a home yet.
I was asked by another faculty member to create music for a 1 1/2 minute video that would be played at the School of Arts graduation ceremony in spring 2004. We wanted it to be light hearted and fun. The video turned out to be downright silly. Music by Joe payne, Poem (lyrics) by Joey Vanderhoof. I was not supposed to be the vocalist, but as it turned out, I was the only one with time to lay them down.
©2003 by Joe Payne. Performed, sequenced, and written by Joe Payne. this is a riff that I was playing with till 4:00 in the morning Saturday night. the neat thing is that all of the guitars are a martin "backpacker" run through a couple of boxes. it's not a complete song, but it's still pretty cool.
this song now has lyrics but I've never gotten around to add them to the track. Sometime soon. Performed and written by Joe Payne with drums sequenced in Sonic Foundry's Acid.
This one was intended to be for a theatre production but never made it in the show. I liked it so I added it here. Guitars performed by Joe Payne, everything else sequenced in Acid.
Lovers: Winners Written by Joe Payne and Kyle Lewis ©1995. Performed, and engineered by Joe Payne in 2000. For the theatre production by the same name at Weber State University. A traveling song writer writes a song about two tragic lovers while their story is depicted behind him.
