Hi folks, It's finally here.

I was a little disappointed at the quality of recording I ended up with, so I had to do a lot of cleaning to the track.  It's not as clean as I would like, but it's still a great archive, and a wonderfully told story.

I did a little bit of editing, then added a bunch of music from WWII that I thought you all would get a kick out of, and music that Grandpa references in the story.

It's a huge file.  I may upload the split version, so that the download won't be quite so long.

The files are MP3s at 192kbps,  105MB, 1 hour and 16 minutes.

Enjoy, and love you all.

G.W. Pappas,  The World War II Story

As told on July 25, 2007 at the Mattson Family reunion.

Here is an edited version without music,

Just in case you want the words and nothing else.

GWPappas WWII no music.

P.S. Does anyone have a picture of Grandpa as a young man in uniform?

It would fit nicely with this.  Email one if you have it.  The picture above is Grandpa in front of his childhood home in Duluth.  Taken a day or two before he told this incredible story.
